The Senator’s Wife

By Liv Constantine

Secrets Abound in This Fast-Paced Beguiling Family Drama

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

SUMMARY

Senator Robert Chase and his wife and philanthropist Sloane Chase had the perfect marriage until it ended in a tragic accident that killed Robert. The tragedy also resulted in the death of Senator Whit Montgomery’s wife, Peg. The two couples had been good friends, often dining and traveling together. The shared ordeal of losing their spouses simultaneously brought Whit and Sloane closer together, and several years after the incident, they decided to marry.

As the couple begins to move forward in their new life together, Sloane needs hip-replacement surgery, which she has put off as long as possible because of a lupus diagnosis in her twenties. The risk of a flare-up is high with any surgery. The couple hires a healthcare worker to help Sloane manage her recovery and her charitable foundation responsibilities. Athena Karras seems to be the perfect fit for the job and is hired. After the surgery, Sloane becomes sicker. Sloane’s lupus appears to be causing uncertainty and paranoia, and the couple begins to fear the worse. Sloane is tired of Athena’s probing questions about her charitable foundation and her past. And now Athena seems to be making moves on Sloane’s husband. The two dine together every night and spend more and more time alone.

REVIEW

Secrets abound in this fast-paced beguiling family drama. It’s an engaging blend of characters, setting, and story and will keep you reading late into the night. The writing is clever and compelling.

The main characters are all well-developed. Sloane’s character is particularly noteworthy; she makes you feel her fear, pain, and paranoia.

Authors Lynne and Valerie Constantine, jointly writing as Liv Constantine, skillfully transports readers to the halls of power in Washinton, DC, and the elegant homes of the wealthy in The Senator’s Wife. The two sisters have written four other novels, including The Last Mrs.Parrish.
