A Delightful Mother-Daughter Bond Story
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
SUMMARY
Katy and Carol were more than just mother-daughter; they were also best friends. Before Carol’s death of cancer, the two had planned the trip of a lifetime to Italy. Now Katy, who is devastated from her mother's death and a failing marriage, decides to take the planned two-week trip to Positano and the Amalfi Coast by herself.
As soon as she arrives in Italy, Katy feels her mother’s spirit all around her. And then Katy meets a new friend, a thirty-year-old sun-tanned, self-assured, and fun-loving woman. Katy is dumb-struck when she realizes this new friend is, in fact, her mother from 30 years ago. Katy gets to know Carol as she was before ever meeting Katy’s father. Katy must reconcile this new woman with the mother she has always known.
REVIEW
Who of us would not love to spend a magical summer with our mother as a young woman in a delightful Italian city. Author Rebecca Serle created this story after spending time in Italy with her mother, who also had spent a summer in Italy while she was in college. The experience made Serle think more about who her mother had been during that time.
The story is delightful, and the setting is deliciously beautiful. The descriptions of Italy and the restaurants and sites around Positano and the Amalfi Coast were to die for. They made the book sing. Both Katy and Carol’s characters were nicely developed, and the mother-daughter bond theme is charming. Hats off to Serle for creatively allowing Katy and Carol to meet across time. Wouldn't it be nice if...why not!
Author Rebecca Serle‘s writing was fun. One Italian Summer was named one of Goodreads Most Anticipated Books of 2022. Serle is an American author and television writer.
