Everyone Here is Lying

By Shari Lapena

A Chilling  and Clever Drama

  ⭐️⭐️⭐️

SUMMARY

William Wooler is a husband, father of two, and a well-respected doctor. He has also been having an affair that ended just this afternoon. After the breakup, he returns to his home to think but is angry that his difficult nine-year-old daughter, Avery is home early from school. William loses his temper with her and immediately regrets it and leaves the house. A few hours later, Avery’s mom and brother report to the police that Avery is missing.

The Stanhope community mounts a search for Avery. As the investigation into Avery’s disappearance continues, William is not the only person holding a lie. Witnesses come forward with information that may or may not be true. The truth is that Avery disappeared without a trace. As blame shifts around the neighborhood, the neighbors become increasingly unhinged.

REVIEW

What happened to nine-year-old Avery Wooler? EVERYONE HERE IS LYING is a chilling but clever drama where it’s difficult to discern the truth from the lies. The story points fingers at almost all the neighbors on the street, but the evidence is nonexistent until an anonymous eyewitness emerges.

The characters are plentiful and uniquely distinct but not overly developed. Avery’s character is particularly memorable and a bit unbelievable. Author Shari Lapena’s writing weaves a tale with numerous surprising shifts and an ending that will leave you chagrined and hungering for more of the story. Despite that, it’s a fast-paced worthy read.
